We are not visiting a way of life, we choose it as the only way to live.

This is not a journey to observe how the highlanders of Mirdita once lived. It is a journey to live, for a few days, according to their order.
In Mirdita, a guest is not welcomed at the door. They are met before arriving, received in advance with a single, meaningful phrase: “You are welcome.”
From that moment on, the rhythm changes.
The first dinner is a family table, where everyone gathers. Each participant receives a small object, without explanation, not as a souvenir, but as a sign of a role that will reveal itself later.
The next day begins when the light arrives. There are no announced schedules. Whoever wakes first, begins the day.
In the tower, on the farm, along the paths, in the council, no one asks “What is this?” Because the answer comes through doing, precisely what was asked.
In Domgjon, you are no longer a visitor. You enter as part of the household, like a family member who has returned, and you begin to live the daily duties.
The grandfather speaks little, he guides, advises, and convenes. The grandmother cares for the children and lights the fire. The father and mother open the gates of a new day, filled with work and sacrifice. The children learn, play, and live the experience as their own.
The table is set according to order, not preference. Here, order and respect for elders are not explained, they are practiced.
In the evening, the word rises through the verses of Father Gjergj Fishta, where the lahuta carries the weight of memory and the very essence of the Mirdita highlander.
The journey continues to artisans, to captains, to new friendships sealed through ritual. In Lufaj, nature speaks through caves, stones, and silence.
And the evening closes beneath the stars, not to rest, but to understand how fortunate and honored we are to have lived this highland way of life.
The final day is not a farewell, it comes as a blessing. Each person carries home a memory, not to remember Mirdita, but because Mirdita has already left something within them.
This journey is not for everyone. It is for those ready to step beyond the role of a simple visitor and enter, with respect, into the essence of the highlander.
