This is not a food tour. It is a return to the way food is born, preserved, and shared among friends.
Taste of the Highlands is a journey through Mirdita’s cuisine as a way of life, where flavours are crafted by hand, lakror is slowly baked under the saç, rakia ferments in silence, and every meal is accompanied by conversation and meaning. In guesthouses, towers, and lived-in homes, participants do not simply taste dishes; they step into the rhythm of the land and its hospitality.
The first day opens with a gentle introduction to the region’s flavours: traditional dairies, fresh milk products, and a dinner where cuisine is presented as identity, a balance between inherited tradition and the chef’s interpretation.
The days that follow unfold as a journey between family tables and authentic guesthouses. Lakrori is prepared by hand, fermentations are revealed not as recipes, but as heritage. Each lunch and dinner is tied to the land, the place, and the people who keep its flavours alive.
In Gurth-Spac and Lufaj, food is paired with walks in nature, spring water, seasonal fruit, and evenings that slowly come to rest, with local wine, homemade desserts, and gentle participation for those who wish to become part of the process.
The journey concludes with the flavour that lingers: simple, authentic products taken home not as souvenirs, but as memory.
This journey does not seek luxury. It asks for time, attention, and respect for true, inherited flavour.
